Q

What does the patient need to do to prepare for a treatment?

A

There is no need to get prepared for treatment; however, you should avoid getting sunburned before the treatment, as it cannot be performed on freshly tanned skin. There are guidelines regarding the proximity of treatments to other aesthetic treatment modalities, which your practitioner will know.

Q

What is the treatment protocol?

A

Usually, a series of 3-4 treatments is recommended, however, it is possible to perform more treatments for enhanced improvement of wrinkles or in cases of severe acne scarring. Treatments are normally spaced at a 1-month interval.

Q

Are the treatments safe?

A

Treatments are safe when conducted according to the guidelines. The energy levels used during the treatments were tested and validated to be safe and effective with no significant risk of injury or damage to the skin.

Q

How long does a treatment take?

A

A treatment can take a few minutes if only a small area is treated. For a full-face treatment, it can take about 20-30 minutes.

Q

Is it okay to apply makeup immediately after the treatment?

A

It is not recommended. After the treatment, you can apply only sterile solutions. Wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup.

Q

What should I expect after the treatment?

A

After the treatment you may experience erythema (redness) and mild edema (swelling) in the treated area. The following day, pinpoint crusts will form and gradually disappear within 2-5 days.

Q

Does it hurt?

A

No. Pollogen’s fractional technology utilizes smart penetration mechanism that ensures minimal pain. The electrodes emit RF energy before they penetrate the skin and therefore gently penetrate the tissue instead of mechanical penetration. In most cases, anaesthesia is not required.

Q

What should a patient experience before, during and after a TriFractional treatment?

A

During the treatment, you might feel a short singeing sensation when the RF energy is emitted. After the treatment, you might feel heat in the treated area accompanied by slight swelling and redness that typically lasts a short time. It is recommended to apply emollient cream, to apply sunscreen and to avoid exposure to the sun.

Q

How will I know which Fractional treatment to use?

A

Choosing the right treatment depends on the targeted skin indication. The RFF Resurfacing technology has a major epidermal impact while the RFF Microneedling technology has a major dermal impact. To treat deep wrinkles, deep scars and create skin tightening use the RFF Microneedling. For acne scars, pores and skin resurfacing use RFF Resurfacing. You can also combine between both technologies in alternating treatments.

Q

What is Pollogen RFF Resurfacing technology?

A

Advanced, safe ablative technology that rejuvenates the face and neck, and provides a youthful look with minimal discomfort and downtime. The treatments target fine lines and resurface the skin, i.e., improved appearance of scars. During the treatment, the RF-First resurfacing technology emits brief pulses of electrical currents through cone-shaped electrodes to ablate pinhead-sized spots to prompts the production of new, healthy and younger-looking skin.

Q

What is Pollogen RFF Microneedling technology?

A

Innovative RF-First technology to enable effective skin rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction, and skin volumizing with minimal pain and downtime. Powered by RF energy, the Microneedling technology creates channels in the skin which enable the ultra-thin needles to penetrate smoothly into the deep dermal layer. The combined effect of the thermal energy and the simultaneous micro-wounds caused in the skin stimulate the fibroblasts to increase the production of ECM (extracellular matrix) components like hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin. This unique technology, featuring ultra-thin needles, requires lower energy levels, increases treatment efficacy, and results in a visible, almost painless effect.

Q

What is RFF Fractional technology?

A

The rf skin rejuvenation technologies were designed to deliver radiofrequency energy to the skin in a fractional manner, via an array of multi-electrode pins/microneedles. The array first delivers RF energy into the skin, smoothly allowing the operation of resurfacing of the epidermis and penetration of microneedles into the dermis. The unique mode of operation allows a very comfortable treatment, with minimal pain and downtime.

Q

Can increasing the frequency of muscle activation cause muscle fatigue?

A

The parameters of Dynamic Muscle Activation (DMA) are safe, even when selecting the highest values per body area. They are will not induce muscle fatigue if treatment time is kept in the range of the suggested treatment duration as displayed in the user interface.

Q

Can treatment increase the size of the masseter muscle?

A

Treatment on the face (once a week for 5 minutes) will not cause the masseter to bulge or increase in size.

Q

How soon after pregnancy can a treatment be performed?

A

Abdomen treatment with can be performed 1-3 months post pregnancy, as long as the woman is not breast feeding and depending on her general physical health.

Q

Can we treat over tattoos?

A

You can treat over tattoos. RF and DMA are ‘color blind” energies. We have heard of rare cases of tattoos with metal splinters which remain from the tattoo needles. If you encounter this, it is advised to treat with caution, according to the patient’s sensitivity.

Q

What is the effect of DMA in the muscles?

A

On the body, the muscle activation increases muscle tone and induces lymphatic drainage. On the face, the DMA therapy improves tone of the SMAS area, inducing a “lifting” effect of the jaw line.

Q

What is the difference between DMA and EMS?

A

DMA induces muscle activation in a sporadic manner, rather than on specific muscle fibers, while also emitting RF energy. The applicator is in motion throughout the treatment, which induces activation and contraction of many surface muscle groups as it moves during treatment.
EMS (electric muscle stimulation) causes muscle contraction of specific targeted muscles by attaching electrodes to specific locations on the body, remaining static during the treatment. The electrodes induce contraction of the same group of muscles as long as the electrodes are attached and activated.

Q

How do I select the treatment parameters or determine the “aggressiveness” of the treatment?

A

The devices are embedded with safe default parameters for each body area. The parameters are adjusted according to the specific body area being treated and according to the particular patient’s needs. The RF power is adjusted to the optimal power needed to achieve an end surface temperature of 40-42°C (not to exceed 45° C).
The DMA parameters are adjusted to enable a tolerable treatment. It is possible to increase the DMA parameters during the consecutive treatments as the patients do get accustomed to the sensation.

Q

What is the recommended treatment course?

A

Clinical trials conducted by Pollogen found that optimal results are obtained when the interval between treatments is once a week. If treatment interval has to be adjusted due to patient compliance or other reasons, there should be at least 4 days, and not more than two weeks between treatments.
Manufacturers of other radiofrequency devices may recommend somewhat different intervals between treatments, but with combining two energy sources, RF and DMA, we have found that the intervals outlined above are most effective.

Q

How long will results last?

A

Results should last several months. However, since the body continues to age and the ageing process cannot be stopped, it is recommended to undergo preventative treatments every few months in order to maintain the results.

Q

What conditions do the technologies treat?

A

The technology is indicated for treatment in dermatologic procedures for non-invasive body shaping, skin tightening, reduction of cellulite and treatment of wrinkles.

Q

What parts of the body can be treated?

A

The RF can be used to treat most body areas. The only parts that should not be treated are the breasts, genitals, underarms, directly over the eyes (below the bone) and the thyroid area. The Dynamic Muscle Activation (DMA) should not be performed on the temples, the neck, thorax area, around the mouth (perioral) and around the eyes (periorbital).

Q

If I have metal implants in my knees, can I have an arm treatment?

A

It is allowed to perform a treatment on the arms if the metal implants are in a different body area. In general, treatment should not be performed over metal implants. In the case of teeth or braces, it is fine to perform a face treatment and if sensitivity becomes an issue, dental cotton pads or slightly damped gauze can be inserted between the teeth and cheeks.

Q

Why is glycerin used during TriPollar treatments?

A

Glycerin was found to be the most suitable material due to its high resistance to RF. It allows the RF to penetrate to the deep layers while preventing the epidermal layer from becoming overheated or harmed. Glycerin is also widely used in the cosmetics industry as a safe and beneficial component, in addition to helping the applicator glide comfortably over the skin and keeping it feeling cool.

Q

Is there a need for cooling during the TriPollar treatment?

A

There is no need to allow for cooling with TriPollar treatments. Pollogen has developed an electronic control mechanism that rotates between the three electrodes to prevent overheating of any one electrode. This makes it a safer treatment protocol.

Q

What is the OxyGeneo Technology?

A

Is an innovative anti-aging device technology for skin exfoliation (removal of dead skin cells from the skin surface), for the purpose of improving skin oxygen levels, and infusion of essential nutrients to enrich the skin. The simultaneous skin exfoliation along with skinoxygenationresults in a rejuvenated and refreshed complexion and optimizedabsorption of the valuable components.

Q

Is there down time after the Oxygeneo treatment?

A

No, youcan resume your daily routine immediately after an OxyGeneo treatment and there is no need for special care. We do advise, however, that youapply sunscreen after treatment to protect the skin.

Q

Is the session suitable for men too?

A

The session is suitable for both women and men,and both benefit from its outcome. It is preferableif men do not shave on the day of the session.

Q

What outcome can I expect from an OxyGeneo session?

A

After an OxyGeneo session your skin should feel smoother, fresher and look brighter with a more uniform tone. In addition, you might notice a general improvement in skin texture and in the appearance of fine lines.

Q

What are the advantages of focused radiofrequency (RF) energy?

A

TriPollar treatments use three or more electrodes, with the RF energy focused and centered between the three electrodes. This controls and limits the delivery of energy to the treatment area, for excellent efficacy results and immediate visible results from the 1st treatment. The focused energy also enables the use of relatively low power for tissue heating, resulting in a safe, pain-free, very pleasant treatment experience.

Q

How high does skin temperature reach during a TriPollar treatment?

A

The objective of the procedure is to reach a skin temperature of between 40 and 42 C and maintain it for the indicated exposure time. The skin temperature is monitored throughout the procedure using the supplied non-contact infrared thermometer.

Q

What kind of results can I expect to deliver with the TriPollar treatments?

A

Clinical trials have demonstrated average reduced tummy circumference of 4.5 cm ± 2.7; average reduced thigh circumference of 2.4 cm ±2.0; average reduced buttocks circumference of 3.1 cm ±1.7; and average reduced arm circumference of 2.1 ± 0.7 cm.

Q

How can I obtain the best clinical results?

A

In order to obtain positive clinical results it is important to reach the optimal combination of skin temperature and exposure time – the TriPollar endpoint. Once the required temperature is achieved the goal is to maintain that temperature for a few minutes, depending on the reaction of the skin and the size of the treatment area. Reaching the optimal temperature is sometimes accompanied by slight erythema and edema.

Q

What are the most common side effects of TriPollar treatments?

A

There is a possibility of erythema and edema appearing after the TriPollar treatment session. Typically, these symptoms are transient and will disappear within two hours. In rare cases, slight erythema and edema could persist for between 1 and 2 days. In case of excessive erythema or edema, soothing agents can be applied.

Q

How does the body dispose of the fat after TriPollar treatments?

A

The TriPollar treatment selectively heats the fat cells in the deep and superficial adipose layers simultaneously. Heating the fat cells increases their natural metabolism, resulting in increased secretion of fatty acids into the surrounding extra-cellular space. The heating also increases the blood circulation in the area, accelerating metabolism that physically helps the blood and lymphatic system dispose of the fatty acids naturally.

Q

Is there an enhanced heat sensation over bony areas?

A

There is a possibility of enhanced heat sensation near bony areas. This is because skin is thinner adjacent to bones. However this is tolerated well by patients.

Q

Does the size of the treatment area determine the type of applicator used?

A

Yes, the size of the treatment area determines which applicator is used. The large applicator should not be used on the face and neck as it is intended for large areas and longer treatment time. The medium-sized applicator is designed to treat smaller treatment areas of the body and is suitable for the face and neck. The Apollo device enables treatment of very small facial areas using the small applicator.
